Asian-Style Steamed Fish: A Delicious Meal That Takes 10 Minutes

If you have all the ingredients, this healthy Asian-style meal can be prepared in less than 10 minutes. The fish is tender, juicy, and flavorful. 2 thickly sliced bluefish or other similar white-fleshed fish

1 thumb-sized piece of peeled ginger

4 tablespoons peanut oil

1 teaspoon sesame oil

2 cloves garlic

1 chili pepper (slightly spicy)

½ cup dry sherry or rice wine

4 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (or light soy sauce with 1 teaspoon sugar)

1 lime

4 small bok choy noodles, quartered

2 chives, finely minced

A few fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions

Step 1 Preheat your steamer of choice.

Step 2 Peel the ginger and cut it into thin strips (or slices).

Step 3 Peel the skin off the fish and brush both sides with peanut oil using a pastry brush or similar tool. Sprinkle a little salt on both sides. Place in a preheated steamer and sprinkle the top of the fish with ginger slices. Cover and simmer for about 7 minutes.

Step 4 While the fish is steaming, heat a frying pan over medium heat, add the sesame oil, peanut oil, minced garlic and chili pepper and cook for 2 minutes until fragrant. Then add the sherry, zest and juice of one lime. Add the sweet sauce and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5 Wash the bok choy and cut it into quarters. Add the bok choy two minutes before it is fully cooked (after 5 minutes). Remove the fish from the steamer, add the bok choy, drizzle with the sauce, and sprinkle with chopped green onions and cilantro.

Step 6 Enjoy hot with white rice.
