Pasta is a beloved food enjoyed around the world. Although closely associated with Italian culture, its history and diversity are far richer than many realize. With over 600 shapes and styles, pasta offers endless variety and fascinating culinary traditions.

A Legacy Spanning Centuries

The origins of pasta are ancient and difficult to trace. Contrary to popular belief, it was not introduced to the West by Marco Polo. Historical evidence shows that early forms of pasta existed in ancient Rome, made from simple flour and water.

Its affordability and simplicity helped it endure through difficult times. In the United States, pasta became popular around 1789 after Thomas Jefferson brought macaroni back from Europe, helping spark its lasting appeal.

Two Main Types of Pasta

Despite its many shapes, pasta falls into two primary categories:

  • Dried pasta: Made from semolina wheat and water, known for long shelf life and firm texture.
  • Fresh pasta: Made with eggs, offering a richer flavor and softer texture but shorter storage time.

Easy to Make at Home

One of pasta’s greatest strengths is its simplicity. A delicious dish can be made using basic ingredients like olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, and chili flakes.

Different shapes pair well with different sauces—wide noodles suit creamy sauces, while thin strands work best with lighter ones. Whether for a family meal or a quiet dinner, pasta remains a versatile and dependable choice.

Empowering Your Confidence in the Business World

Women across various roles in business, from employees to entrepreneurs and executives, sometimes wrestle with self-confidence issues in the workplace. In contrast, men tend to exhibit what researchers call honest overconfidence, reaping the benefits of their self-assured mindset.
